Sara Ann Adams, 88, of Burlington, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born December 1, 1916, in LaFayette, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles and Grace Schleister Meyers. On October 25, 1935, she married William "Rollie" Adams in Toledo, Ohio. He died September 18, 1996. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She also worked for Ohio Bell for 2 1/2 years and for Frisch's Big Boy for four years as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Golden Oldies, Senior Center and King's Daughters. She was involved in Toys for Tots, liked going to garage sales and gardening. Survivors include one son, Jim (Penni) Adams of Hereford, Arizona; one daughter, Linda (Joe) Geno of Burlington; four grandchildren, James Adams, Joe Geno Jr., Becky Johnson and Laurie Harwood; and four great-grandchildren, Brietta Adams, Nick Johnson, Jesse Johnson and Joshua Geno. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Howard, Solomon, Walter, Carl, Ortez and Robert, and three sisters, Glenna, Lucille and Etta. Friends may call after 12 noon on Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Adams will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at First Christian Church, with Pastor Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Toys for Tots.
