Obituary

Elsie Wilhelmina Starker, 78, of 216 S. Gunnison St., died in Burlington hospital at 10:30 p.m. Monday. A descendant of two pioneer Des Moines county families, Miss Starker was the daughter of August H. and Marie Weinrich Starker, and was born July 8, 1888, at Yarmouth. She had spent most of her life in Burlington, where she was vice president of Northwestern Cabinet Co. She was a charter member of Burlington Book club and was a member of Chapter P.P.E.O. sisterhood. Executives Club, and State Historical Society of Iowa. Surviving: Brothers Henry W. Starker, with whom she made her home, and Ernest A. Starker; an aunt, Mrs. Karl Knaths, wife of the world-famed artist of Provinceton, Mass., and several cousins. Services: Thursday at 3:30 at the Prugh Chapel, Dr. Olin A. Lewis, Aspen Grove Cemetery.
