Mr. Earl Hamilton Adams, 74, of 303 1/2 Summer, died Tuesday morning at the Gateway Club, 863 Jefferson, where he was employed as a bartender. He formerly worked at Byrnsie's and the B&F cigar store.
Mr. Adams, who suffered a heart attack, was born Dec. 20, 1888, at Mt. Pleasant, the son of Zophar and Lillie Cox Adams, and was married to Bertha Haifley at Fairfield. She died in 1932, and he married Muriel Cross here on Dec 24, 1934. he was a member of the Eagles lodge and Bartender's union.
Surviving are his wife; two sone, Raymond and Dale, both of Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Max and Mrs. George Manley, both of Burlington, and Mrs. James Gleason of Grand Island, neb; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Phillip George of Blandinsville, Il, Mrs. Morris Gustafson of Davenport; and Mrs. Arvel Cullum and Mrs. Elmer Barnett, both of Fairfield; a brother, John, of Waterloo; and a number of nieces and nephews. A daughter and several brothers and sisters are dead.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel, the Rev. John Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove.
