Carolyn Cooke, 81, of Burlington, died at 7:09 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born December 25, 1927, in Monroe City, MO, she was the daughter of James Marvin and Ethel Mae Hagan Quinn. On October 30, 1948, she married James Paul Cooke in St. Stephens, MO. Mrs. Cooke worked at IRC and in production at J. I. Case Co. in Burlington, retiring in 1983. She was a 1945 graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Monroe City, and a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, and the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Survivors include her husband; one son, Mike Cooke of Burlington; one daughter, Janet Daniels of Dover, Ohio; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., and the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. The funeral mass of the resurrection for Mrs. Cooke will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. David G. Steinle officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church.
