Wilbur P. "Bud" Conrad, 90, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Jan. 18, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Harold and Evelyn Grannaman Conrad.
Mr. Conrad started his career as a florist in 1937, working at Bock's Flower Shop in Burlington, and in 1958, he and Larry Willison opened Bud's Flower Shop in Mount Pleasant and retired July 1, 1995, after 37 years in business. He previously traveled several years with Albert Nelson's one-man band and the carnival.
In 1941, he graduated from Burlington High School, then joined the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington and former member of Mount Pleasant Kiwanis Club.
He was the conductor on the trolley during Midwest Old Threshers for many years.
Survivors include his longtime friend, Lawrence Willison of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated.
The graveside memorial service for Mr. Conrad will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorials have been established for the Alzheimer's Foundation and Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington.
Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
