Iris Marie Conor, 85, of Burlington, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home. Born September 7, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Stephen and Sarah Marie Wade Kupfer. On December 31, 1941, she married James H. Hoschek. He died June 28, 1955. On November 15, 1958, she married Alfred "Al" G. Conor in Burlington. Iris worked at Sunnyside School in food service for 23 years. She was a graduate of Burlington High School. She belonged to several card clubs, the retired food servers and King's Daughters' Reda Coates Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, shopping, traveling, and attending her grandchildren's events. Survivors include her husband, Al; four sons, Gary Conor, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Stephen Hoschek of Burlington, Jon (Melodie) Hoschek of West Burlington, and James Hoschek of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Sue (LeRoy) Miller of Las Vegas, NV, Linda (Roger) Stein of Atkins, IA, and Sara (Tom) Rowan of Danville; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Charles Hoschek. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Conor will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Rev. Father Bruce A. DeRammelaere officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry.
