MacArthur "Mac" Coffin, Sr., 85, of Burlington, died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at Blair House in West Burlington. Born April 13, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph H. and Janet MacArthur Coffin. He married Constance Bacher on August 10, 1947, in Burlington, Iowa. "Mac" was the senior partner of Frank Millard & Company, Inc., serving the company for over 65 years. He was a member of the National Electrical Contractors of Iowa, Mechanical Contractors of Iowa, The Illowa Sheet Metal Association, and the ASHRAE. He was also active in the Burlington Golf Club, Boy Scouts of America, BPOE #84, and a lifetime Moose Lodge member. "Mac" was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve (Lynn) Coffin, and MacArthur (Linda) Coffin of Burlington; one daughter, Sarah (Robert) Vetter of DelMar, California; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, George Coffin of Burlington; one sister, Janet Brammeier of Glen Carbon, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel after 8 a.m. on Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Coffin will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, at Christ Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Wayne Kamm and Deacon George Rogerson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Burlington Golf Club Legacy Fund, Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts and Christ Episcopal Church.
