Dean H. Clover, 87, of Burlington, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at St. Francis Care Center. Born Feb. 25, 1912, in Denmark, he was the son of Harry and Kathryn McClane Clover. On July 21, 1948, he married Helen Gertrude Flynn in St. Louis. She died Oct. 4, 1998. Mr. Clover worked for J.I. Case, then as a mechanical test engineer for Murray Iron Works Co. from 1939 until 1977. He continued working as a consultant for Murray Iron Works Co. during his retirement. He was a 1931 graduate of Denmark High School, and attended Iowa State University. He was a member of Delta Queen Mark Twain Association, TPA, RSVP as a volunteer at the Port of Burlington, Grace United Methodist Church and its Avesta class, and a former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was an avid bridge player, and loved working crossword puzzles, walking and traveling. Survivors include three daughters, Louise Burman of Middletown, Kathryn Heaford of Dysart, and Carolyn Olberding of Dyersville; one brother, Floyd Clover of Glendale, Calif.; one sister, Eva Hansen of Charleston, W.Va.; and four grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Sheagren Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. The service for Mr. Clover will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Grace UInited Methodist Church, with the Rev. Travor Davis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for St. Francis Care Center and Grace United Methodist Church.
