Mrs. Alma Sofia Weik, 73, who lived at the home of her daughter,, Mrs. Paul Happ, died last night at the home of another daughter, Mrs. John Vesper of Cedar Rapids, Ia. She had been in ill health for some months. She was born in Elfsborgs Lan, Dalsland, Sweden, March 29, 1867. She came to the United States 70 years ago with her parents and they settled at Unionville, Mo., where she married George P. Weik, who preceded her in death in 1936, Dec. 23, 1885. They came to Burlington to make their home 45 years ago. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church and the Woodmen circle. In her youth she had learned the printers' trade and prior to her marriage she held a printers position on a newspaper located at Unionville. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul Happ of Burlington and Mrs. John Vesper of Cedar Rapids; one son, Dr. E.O. Weik of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Mathilda Benson of Blakesburg, Ia., four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. One son, six sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. R.R. Belter will officiate and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
