Michael L. Fitzpatrick, 61, of New London, died at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Muscatine General Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1942, in Grand Island, Nev. he was the son of LeRoy F. and Loretta M. Bowling Fitzpatrick. On Sept. 1, 1977, he married Lois Maggie Willdrick in Burlington. She died May 29, 1985. Mr. Fitzpatrick worked at General Electric. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran. He liked model railroads, race car models, drag racing, NASCAR racing, was a devoted Dale Earnhardt fan and a van club member. Survivors include one daughter, Lori Stumpf of Burlington; three sons, Scott Locke of St. Louis, Michael Shane Fitzpatrick of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Casey Fitzpatrick of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Fitzpatrick will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel, with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162 American Legion Post 52 and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League Honor Guard will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
