Alan Lee Bonar, 19, 1107 W. Hempstead, Fairfield, apparently took his own life on Friday, Oct. 19, in his home. Authorities found the body on Tuesday and listed suffocation as the cause of death.
He was born Nov. 1, 1953, in Burlington, the son of Ervin and Anita Rutherford Bonar. He was a 1973 graduate of Fairfield High School where he lettered in football, wrestling, and track. He was a member of HI-Y, 4-H, and DeMolays. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and active in youth work at the church. He was employed by Acco’s Louden division.
Surviving: The father, Fairfield; the Mother, Muscatine; two brothers, Ronald, Des Moines, Fary, Muscatine; maternal grandmother, Margaret Rutherford, West Burlington.
Funeral: Private graveside services Thursday at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Rev. Wayne Bartruff. Memorial services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge.
