Obituary
After an illness of some five weeks duration, the result of a paralytic stroke sustained ten months ago, Mr. George Bomgardner died yesterday morning at half-past nine in his home, 812 South Seventh Street. Although a carpenter by trade, he will be better remembered by our citizens as the landlord of the old Eagle House, corner Main and Division which he ran successfully for several years.
Mr. Bomgardner was born in Pennsylvania on October 13, 1828, and therefore, was in his sixty-second year. February 27, 1850, he was married in Pennsylvania to Miss Lydia Mellinger, and in the fall of the same year, they came to Burlington and here made their home.
Five children were born to them, all of whom have preceded the father to the other life beyond the tomb the aged mother and widow alone surviving. The only blood relation of the deceased gentleman surviving him is a sister residing at the old home in the Keystone State. Mr. Bomgardner was a quiet, reserved man with people generally, but to those who knew him well, he presented thoroughly amiable qualities and was a companion who enjoyed the humorous side of life and contributed his share to the pleasure of his associates.
The funeral will be held from the family residence tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock.
