Services for Mrs. Laura M. Bolsinger, 79, a retired school teacher with 50 years of service in Burlington public schools, will be at 10:30 am Wednesday in Prugh’s chapel.
Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The former teacher died Monday morning in Wilmette, Ill., where she had made her home with her daughter since retiring 10 years ago.
Mrs. Bolsinger, widow of George Bolsinger, was organist at Grace Methodist church for 20 years. She was born March 22, 1873, in Burlington, a daughter of William and Saville McLane, and was married in Chicago.
Surviving are a son, William of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Merrick, Wilmette, Ill., a brother, Oliver McLane, Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wallace, Burlington; and five grandchildren.
Laura was the second daughter born to William T. & Saville (Miller) McLane. Her oldest sibling was Mary Alice, (1870-1953), who married a Wallace. Their younger brother was Oliver O. (1876-1964).
Laura married a George Elliot Bolsinger, a dentist, (1876-1943). They had two children; William Elliott, (1908-1984), and Savilla Louise, (1909-1979), who married a Herbert C. Merrick.
Although born in Burlington, Iowa, Bolsinger graduated from Chicago College of Dental Surgery. Soon after, the couple moved to Washington state in the Tacoma area. William E. was born there. Laura did not want to live in Washington state and George who had started a practice did not want to move. Laura had their second child, Louise in Burlington, Iowa and they got a divorce. The children were raised in Burlington where they attended & graduated from High school. Later they would both live in the Cook county area of Illinois. For a time Laura lived with her parents. She was a teacher and did not remarry. She and her parents are buried in the Aspen Grove cemetery.
