Obituary
Mrs. Ina Bess Wehman, 77, 1313 S. Starr, died at Burlington hospital Sunday morning after an extended illness. She was born at Polo, Ill., Sept. 26, 1882, the daughter of John and Carrie Yates Hildebrand and was married to the late Dr. Edward J. Wehman in Burlington on Oct. 1, 1909. She was a member of the First Congregational church and a member of the Norman Circle of King's Daughters for 49 years. She had taught first grade at North Hill School. She was active in the Ladies Aid of the church and the Alliance, and in the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a life member of the board and a charter member of the Des Moines County Red Cross chapter. For many years she was president of the board of the Hennie Coulter Day Nursery. She also served on the board of the Visiting Nurses Assn. and the Des Moines County Social Welfare board. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William H. Bayne of Hyattsville, Md.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. J.A. Stewart of Burlington. Services will be held in Prugh's Chapel, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Paul Pitman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
