Obituary
Fred Bohlken, 2201 Baumberger Street, life resident of Burlington, died at 1 am Monday at his home following a 4 months illness. Born Feb. 8, 1884, he was for more than 40 years associated with the Leyda, Burrus & Metz company.
He was married June 25, 1914, to Louise Holze, who survives.
A prominent member of the Oak Street Baptist Church, Bohlken was a member of the Men’s Bible class and was serving as a deacon of the church at the time of his death. He was also affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose.
In addition to the widow he is survived by 6 children, Mrs. John W. Hult, Hopewell, Va., Mrs. O. H. Schaefer, Corpus Christi, Tex., Evelyn B., Virginia and Frederick Bohlken, all at home, and Eunice Bohlken, a student at Iowa State college, Ames. A daughter, Elizabeth Mae and a brother and sister are dead. There are also 3 brothers, Dick and Henry Bohlken, George Bohlken, Flint, Mich., three sisters; Mrs. WE Leasman, Madison, Minn., Mrs. Drew Orton, Burlington, and Mrs. OE Beckman, Mediapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday from the Oak Street Baptist church in charge of Rev. A Bernadt, preceded by brief rites from Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 1:30. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
