Sean Michael Tansey, 35, of West Burlington died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Sean was born on March 14, 1975 in Burlington, Iowa. He graduated from West Burlington High School in 1993 and completed Job Corps program. He worked at various jobs until becoming totally disabled. Sean was an ardent fan of the Grateful Dead and Harley Davidson. Sean is survived by his mother, Karen von Behren and stepfather, Jerry von Behren of Burlington; his father, Dan Tansey and stepmother, Pat Tansey of Monmouth, Illinois; his half sister, Tricia Tansey, his stepsisters, Amy Kellog of Chicago, Illinois and Nicole Harris of Nevada, Iowa; his stepbrother, Kevin von Behren of Portland, Oregan; his aunt, Rita Howard of Middletown, Iowa and uncles, Tom Cline of Arvada, Colorado and Mike Cline of Iowa City, Iowa; his aunt, Karen Weicher of Burlington and uncle, Rick Tansey of Burlington.
He is also survived by three sons, Michael Villareal of Texas, Tyler Rodriguez and Israel Villareal of Morning Sun and his fiance Laura Teesdale. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Sean will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church. The Rev. David Steinle will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for NAMI Iowa (National Association for Mental Illness-Iowa).
