Obituary
Mrs. Wm. J. Waugh, of this city, passed away Tuesday morning. She was taken sick with pneumonia three weeks ago and at times there was hope of recovery, but the angel of death claimed her. She was the widow of the late Wm. J. Waugh, the watchmaker, who preceded her to the great beyond July 26, 1901. Mrs. Waugh's maiden name was Anna Jane Given, and she was born September 14, 1833, in Newtownlimavady, County Derry, Ireland. She was united in marriage to Wm. J. Waugh August 11, 1853. To this union were born eleven children, six sons and five daughters. Four children preceded her and seven remain to mourn her loss. The following children survive her; Wm. J. Waugh, of Galesburg, Ill.; H.W. Waugh, of this city; Mrs. Berkshire, of Terra Haute, Ill.; Arthur Waugh, of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Perry Cooper, of Stronghurst, Ill.; John Waugh, of Chicago, Ill.; D.B. Waugh, of Melrose, Cal. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family. Mrs. Waugh came to this country with her husband and family July 12, 1874, arriving in New York, where they made their home until February, 1875, when they came to Burlington, which has always been her home. She was a member of the First M.E. church of this city and was a kind and loving mother and a good Christian woman, and will be missed by her many friends who will keep her memory green. The announcement of the time for the funeral will be made later.
