Obituary
An old man named William Watt, who narrowly escaped asphyxiation several weeks ago at the Eagle hotel, died this morning at St. Francis hospital. He was ina pitiable plight and death was merciful to him. Watt originally hailed from Columbus Junction, but spent the past year in Burlington. He was n poor health and one morning was found in the Eagle hotel in a serious condition. The gas jet in the room was either accidentally or intentionally turned on. He recovered and left the hospital three weeks ago, but a few days ago was picked up at the Union depot, completely helpless. he had been stricken with paralysis. For the past few days he had been cared for at St. Francis hospital. It is said that Watt has relatives in Burlington, but little is known of him. He refused to talk in the former experience and in his last he was unable to do so.
