Committal Services for Mrs. George C. Boesch, former Burlington businesswoman and civic leader who died recently in California at the age of 92, will be held in Aspen Grove cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday. officiating will be the Rev. Horace Ireland, associate pastor of First Methodist Church.
Mrs. Boesch was the widow of Mr. George C. Boesch, president of John Boesch Co., Burlington department store, at the time of his death in 1923.
Mrs. Boesch had resided in the Hollenbeck Home, in Los Angeles, for the past 15 years. She left Burlington to settle in California about 20 years ago. In Burlington, the Boesch home was at 822 N. Fourth St.
The former Leonora Josephine Heins, Mrs Boesch was born at Lydia, Minn. She came to Burlington in1893 after her marriage to Mr. Boesch.
She was active in the affairs of First Methodist church and of the YMCA and Masonic women's organizations, and was an early-day president of Women's Bureau of Burlington.
She succeeded her husband on the school board and was active in the management of John Boesch Co. and of Hertzler & Boesch Shoe Co.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Marjorie Boesch Merrick of St Paul, Minn and Mrs. Robert (Lenore) Boesch Creel of San Anotonio, TX; five grandchildren; 15 great-grand children. A son, Melbourne Boesch died in 1930.
