Obituary

Ms. Helen Louise Clawson, 86, of West Burlington and formerly of Mt. Pleasant died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Great River Medical Center Emergency Treatment Center.
Born September 20, 1927 in Estherville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Frank Hassel and Elsie M. Mennen Johnson. She married Ralph James Clawson and they later divorced.
Ms. Clawson was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She worked as a machine operator for Champion Spark Plug for 31 ½ years, retiring December 23, 1988.
Ms. Clawson was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and VFW and Eagles Aerie 150 Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, camping, bowling and making special Christmas stockings for her great grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Michael A. (Pat) Clawson of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Dennis L. (Cheryl) Clawson of West Burlington and Bruce J. (Carla) Clawson of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three sisters, Hazel Weaver and Donna Conaway both of Mt. Pleasant and Ruth Klopfenstein of Winfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, three great grandchildren, two nephews, one sister, two brothers-in-law and special friend Ervin Beckman.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, February 28th, at Lunning Chapel and the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service on Saturday.
The funeral service for Ms. Clawson will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1st, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Weissenbuehler officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Hope Haven and Faith Lutheran Church.
