Harriet Alice Warren, for 40 years, a teacher of Latin in Burlington high school, died suddenly in Burlington hospital Thursday at 10:12 p.m. Miss Warren was born here March 1, 1867, the daughter of the late Charles Greene and Harriet warden Warren. She received her education in Burlington public schools, with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Chicago, being a member of the Phi Betta Kappa. She had traveled extensively in Europe and recital of her interesting observations upon these tours afforded much pleasure to students and friends. She was a member of the high school faculty from 1887 to 1927, when she retired. She also was active in the First Congregational church, where she held the office of deaconess and was a member of the ladies aid society of the church and the Alpha club. A brother, Charles Lincoln Warren, preceded her in death in 1942. Surviving are two sisters, the Misses Gertrude and Clara C. Warren. Funeral services will be held at the family home, 720 N. 7th street, at 4 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Bruce Masselink, pastor of the Congregational church, will officiate. Interment in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body was removed to Prugh's chapel.
