Mrs. Fannie E. Wardan, widow of William H. Wardan, Civil War veteran, who died four years ago last March, passed away at her home, 1802 South Main street, Sunday morning after an illness of several months. Mrs. Wardan was 87 years old, and was born in LaGrange, Tenn., Sept. 115, 1849, coming to Burlington at the close of the Civil war when she was but 16. She had lived here ever since. On Jan. 18, 1872, she married Mr. Wardan here. To this happy union were born six childrren; Mrs. E.A. Fox of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. F.E .Barton of Rochester, N.Y.; Miss Ruth Wardan who passed away in 1900; Ray Wardan at home; W.H. Wardan, Jr., of Rochester, N.Y. and C.F. Wardan of Galesburg, Ill. Also surviving are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Wardan was charter member of Harrison Avenue Methodist church, and formerly was a member of the Degree of Honor and Woman's Relief Corps. She had held an office in the latter, and also was active in church and other outside interests until her health prohibited. Funeral services will be held at Prughs chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Walter Samp, pastor of Harrison Avenue church, in charge, Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
