Charles Everett Ward, 52, head of the Ward Candy Co. and the Burlington Beverage Co. here, died at his home, 121 Grand street, at 9:30 o'clock last night. following a heart attack. He had been suffering from a heart affliction for some time but was not thought to be critically ill until shortly before his death. Mr. Ward was born in Canton, Mo., May 25, 1880, and married in Mexico, Mo., in 1909 to Hennie Dinwiddie, who survives him. He was employed by the Burlington railroad for 15 years coming here as a railroad employe. He left the railroad 12 years ago and for four year was city salesman for the Lagomarcine-Grupe Co., entering business for himself eight years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, the Eagles, Moose and Turners lodges. Besides his widow he is survived by two brothers, W.H. Ward of Burlington and B.O. Ward of Hannibal, Mo.; six sisters in Missouri and his father, Samuel Ward of Burlington. Funeral services will be held in Prugh's chapel tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
