Mrs. Anna Josephine Ward, a resident of Des Moines county practically all her life, died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Edward Ward, on the Upper Augusta road near Spring Creek, where she had been making her home for the last two weeks. Mrs. Ward was born in Burlington March 14, 1856 and was the widow of William Ward, who died in 1894. She is survived by two sons, Edward and Zed Ward, of Des Moines county; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Kestner, of Lamona, Iowa; two brothers, Henry Meier of Burllington and Fred Meier of Rock Island, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Armpriest, Mrs. Minnie Diercks and Mrs. Christiana Hamerlind of Burlington; and six grandchildren. She was a member of the Iowa Evangelical church at Corning. Funeral services will be held from the home of her son Zed Ward four miles west of Burlington, on the cut off road, Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
