Mrs. Mary L. Ward, 85, widow of John Ward, died at her home, 608 South Plane street late Monday afternoon, after an extended illness. She had lived in Burlington for 25 years. Mrs. Ward was born in New York, September 10, 1842, coming to Iowa when a young girl. She wa married in 1903 to John Ward and the couple came to Burlington to make their home. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Anna Clark of Monroe, Wis., Mrs. Alice Dodd of Charles City, Ia., Mrs. Jessie Armstrong of Farley, Ia., and Mary L. Cook of Burlington, who had cared for her during her long illness. Her body was taken to Prugh's chapel where it will remain until funeral arrangements are completed.
