Obituary
Harry O. Bock, Sunnyside avenue, proprietor of Bock’s greenhouses, nursery, and flower shop, passed away in Burlington hospital at 7:20 last evening. Death was the result of an acute attack of appendicitis and complications. Mr. Bock was taken seriously ill last Thursday and an emergency operation was performed. His condition was known to be critical from the first and small hope was held for his recovery. His death will be sincerely mourned by his hundreds of friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Bock, who was 48 years old at the time of his death, was born in Burlington, August 27, 1881, and lived here all his life, practically all of which was devoted to the development of the flower business which bore his name.
He was married March 2, 1910, to Miss Minnie Wohlwend, who survives him. He was a member of the Eagles, Masons, Odd Fellows, MWA, Turners, and Rotary International.
Besides his widow, he is survived by a son Joseph Norman Bock; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Bock; one sister, Mrs. Emma Fritz; and one brother, Dr. Edwin Bock of Fairfield.
Funeral services will be held from the late residence at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Rev. A Koelling and Rev. SM Lesher will officiate. Pallbearers will be old employees at the Bock Greenhouse and will include Arthur Lindgren, Claude Cheser, John Wilson, Herman Welcher, Carol Steers, Dave Knopp, Allen Lindgren, and Elmer Blum. The body will be taken home from Prugh’s chapel tomorrow morning.
