Obituary

Marian l. Wachutka Walters, 86, of the Klein Unit of Burlington Medical Center, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 1993 at her home. Born April 10, 1906 in Biggsville, Ill., she was the daughter of James Hull and Catherine Staley Gibb. On Dec. 27, 1923, she married Carl J. Wachutka in Galesburg, ill. He died Feb 4, 1945. On Sept, 28, 1956, she married Herbert H. Walters in Burlington. He died July 30, 1980. Mrs. Wachutka Walters spent more than 20 years employed at the Burlington Milk Producers and four years with Bonewitz Chemical Co. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an active bowler in the Ladies Major League. She was a member of the Burlington Women's Bowling Hall of Fame and the first woman bowler to bowl a 600 series in the league. She also was a member of the E.C. Blackmar O.E.S. Chapter 306. Survives include a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn R. Bouquet of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Virginia Ann Cherre of St. Louis; a daughter-in-law, Patricia, Wachutka of Gig Harbor, Mich; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a niece and nephew. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a sister and a brother. Visitation will be after noon Monday at Lunning Chapel. The service for Mrs. Wachutka Walters will be at the First United Methodist Church at a time and date to be announced later. The Rev. Barrie Tritle will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Temple Elevator Fund.
