Hugh A. Walters, 68, retired mail clerk, formerly of Burlington, died Saturday at a San Bernardino, Calif., hospital according to word received here. He had been a mail clerk on the Rock Island railroad out of Burlington for 37 years and retired 6 years ago. Two years ago he moved to California. He was born in Keosauqua, June 27, 1879 and had lived in Burlington most of his life. Nov. 5, 1902 he married Meta D. Wegener in Burlington. She died Oct. 22, 1944. Surviving are 2 sons, Hugh, Corpus Christi, Tex., and Maurice, San Bernardino; a daughter, Mrs. O.K. Stafford, Chicago; 4 grandchildren and a brother, Fred of Davenport. The body will be brought to Burlington early Thursday morning. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Burnett Wallen funeral home. Dr. R.R. Belter will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
