Obituary

Mrs. Carrie Walter, 79, passed away at 8 o'clock Monday evening at the Burlington hospital. Death came as a result of a fall several weeks ago at which time she suffered a broken hip. Carrie Hohr was born in Keosauqua, June 9, 1850 and had been a resident of Burlington for the past 47 years. She was a charter member of the Grace M.E. church and was a faithful attendant until injured a few weeks ago. She was also a member of the Hawkeye Natives. Surviving are two sons, Hugh A. Walter, 1828 Sunnyside avenue, and a sister in Keosauqua. Her husband George D. Walter, a Civil war veteran died in 1913. Three grandchildren also survive. The remains were taken to Prugh's chapel and will be removed to the Hugh Walter residence where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Fred Skewes of the Grace M.E. church will officiate and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
