Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Bock, 79, Sunnyside Avenue, widow of Joseph Bock who was a prominent Burlington florist before his death 25 years ago, and who built Iowa’s first greenhouse here, died at Burlington hospital this morning at 6:15.
The daughter of Henry and Helena Wiemer, she was born on Madison avenue on Jan. 21, 1857, and was a life resident of Burlington. She and Mr. Bock were married by Dr. Salter 61 years ago last Nov. 25.
Mrs. Bock was a member of the Hawkeye Natives society, WRC, and attended St. Paul Evangelical church in West Burlington.
Mrs. Bock is survived by two children, Mrs. Emma Fritz of Burlington, and Dr. Edwin C. Bock of Fairfield, Ia.; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Mildred Higgins of Burlington; Mrs. Fred Willins of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Frank Haven McClurg, Fairfield, and Joseph Bock of Burlington, connected with Bock’s flower Shop.
She was the last of her family. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by another son, Harry.
Funeral services have not been set definitely, but probably will be held Tuesday. The body is at Prugh’s chapel.
