Thomas Frederick Wallis, 114 Summer street, West Burlington died Sunday about 10:15 a.m.in his home. He served as a machinist at the West Burlington shops for 31 years before retiring about 10 years ago. He was born in Mexbrough, England and came to this county 66 years ago. He was the son of Robert and Margaret Briggs Wallis and was married on Aug. 24, 1917 to Marie Louise Leutbecher at Sycamore, Ill. Wallis was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, West Burlington; the Machinist union; the Railway veterans, and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carl A. Swander of Burlilngton and Mrs. George Senior of Maple Shade, N.J.; two sons, Robert C. Wallis of New Haven, Conn., and Thomas F. Wallis, Jr. of Dallas, Tex. Seven grandchildren and a brother, Charles R. Wallis of Pasco, Wash., also survive. His parents and two sisters are dead. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's chapel. The Rev. Calvin Ley will be in charge and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
