Douglas Clayton Boales, 18, of 923 N. Eight St., Burlington, died Tuesday, April 12, 1994, at 1718 Agency St. of an apparent suicide. Police and emergency personnel were called to the home at 5:40 pm to an upstairs bedroom where he used a .12 gauge shotgun to shoot himself in the chest. There was one other family member home at the time. He did not leave a note.
Born Nov. 10, 1975, in Iowa City, he was the son of Ernest Henry Boales and DeAnn Leon Dickenson Robinson.
Survivors include his parents, both of Burlington, one sister Megan Marie Dickenson of Burlington; one brother, Patrick Gene Robinson of Burlington; one half-brother, Christopher Boales of Burlington; paternal grandmother, Cathlene Deitch of Burlington; paternal grandfather Ernest Boales of Ohio; maternal grandparents, Douglas and Beverly Dickenson of Burlington and Mr. and Mrs. Emery Bumsted of Eldora.
Visitation will be afternoon in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 pm
The funeral for Mr. Boales will be at 10:30 am Friday in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
