Mrs. Bessie Blunt, 57, wife of Rev. Plennie H. Blunt, a former pastor of Walnut Street Baptist church, died Friday at 9:15 p.m. at her home in Humeston, Ia after an illness of about 9 months.
The former Bessie G. Allison, she married Rev. Blunt, May 19, 1938, in Burlington. Rev. Blunt had been pastor of the Walnut street church for several years and in 1938, after his marriage, accepted a pastorate at Oskaloosa. From Oskaloosa the couple moved to Shell Rock and for the last 2 years had been at Humeston. Mrs Blunt was born in Burlington, Jan 8, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allison. She was active in church work and before her marriage was employed at the Schramm & Schmeig company.
Surviving are her husband; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Thul, and a brother, Clyde M. Allison, both of Burlington; 8 stepchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Humeston Monday at 9 a.m. and the body will be brought to Burlington for services in the Walnut street Baptist church Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. M.L. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
