The death of Mrs. Emily Cartwright occurred last night at her late residence, on the corner of Starr avenue and Mason street. The deceased lady was the mother of a well-known colored citizen, Mr. Noah Cartwright and was 74 years of age.
Mrs. Emily Cartwright, colored, mother of Noah Cartwright, living at the corner of Mason and Star Avenue, died at nine o'clock yesterday morning from hemorrhage of the lungs. She was born in Kentucky seventy-four years ago. She leaves four children, still living, two in this city, one in Montezuma, Iowa and one (Mr. Ellis Cartwright) in Kansas.
