Obituary
Dr. J.N. Walker, 75, resident of Burlington 38 years and widely known osteopath in this area, died suddenly at 6 a.m. today of a heart ailment in his home at 102 S. Marshall street. Born in Memphis, Mo., March 16, 1864, he came here on his graduation from Still college of Osteopathy in Kirksville, Mo., in 1901. He was married to Ida Jane Pinney at Memphis about 45 years ago. Dr. Walker attended First Methodist church, interested in all community affairs, Dr. Walker's particular hobby was agriculture in addition to his profession. He was much interested in osteopathy and took a personal interest in his patients. He recently made an annual trip to Kirksville where he took a course every year which made it possible for him to keep up with developments in his chosen work. Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Helen G. Lord, who made her home with her father; a brother, Charles R. Walker of Portland, Ore., and one grandchild Jane Lord, at home. His wife died Dec. 4, 1931. Services will be held at the residence at 4 p.m. Friday conducted by Dr. Archibald Cardle, pastor of First Presbyterian church. Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body is at the Burnett-Wallen funeral home where it will remain until being removed to the residence at 9 a.m. Friday.
Died at his late residence, Tuesday, June 27, 1939, 102 S. Marshall street, Dr. Joseph N. Walker at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 11 days. Services will be held from the residence Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Dr. A. Cardle officiating. Interment in Aspen Grove cemetery. Friends may call at hte Burnett-Wallen funeral home until 9 a.m. Friday.
