Glenn Lortz Ablard was born in Williamsburg, Iowa on May 22, 1912 to Roy Randolf Ablard (04/29/1882-1882) and Mary Elisabeth Lortz Ablard (1886-1917). He had one sister Mary and a brother who died in infancy. Glenn and his sister spent a lot of time with their grandparents William and Mary Lortz following the death of their mother at the young age of thirty-one. Glenn graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1930. On May 22, 1934 he married Alice Rebecca Jones in her family home in Williamsburg.
Together they welcomed three children Russell Allyn Ablard (b.03/14/1935-d.10/02/2005) born in the family home of his mother in Williamsburg, and two daughters. Glenn and his family would live in a number of different towns North English, South English and Cedar Rapids, and also lived for a short while in Missouri before settling in Burlington. Glenn worked as a salesman for Keystone Products.
He was a former member of the Iowa Odd Fellows. He also belonged to the Asbury United Methodist Church.
He passed away at the Klein Center in Burlington on Friday, April 28, 2000. He was 87 years of age. His wife Alice, parents Roy and Altha, sister Mary and an infant brother preceded him in death.
