Mrs. Amelia Waldin, aged 71 years, wife of Charles Waldin, retired Burlington jeweler, passed away at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the family home, 721 North Main street. Mrs. Waldin, a resident of Burlington since she was one year old, won an enviable reputation with her kindness and lovable character. She was active in church and school affairs until she became afflicted with ill health about 10 years ago. She was a member of one of the first graduating classes of Burlington high school and was assistant principle of the old South Boundary school for a time. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and was secretary of the woman's social society of the church for 34 years. She was active in all women's club work and served a secretary of the Federated Women's clubs. Mrs. Waldin, whose maiden name was Amelia Biesenbruck, was born in Constantinople, Turkey, April 22, 1853, her parents being missionaries. They returned to America soon after their daughter's birth and made their home in Burlington. Mrs. Waldin was married in 1876 to Mr. Waldin who conducted a jewelry business at 305 Jefferson street until his retirement a few years ago. Deceased is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. C.S. Friedman and May Waldin; one sister, Mrs. Marie Sprenger and three grandsons and one granddaughter. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the family residence with Dr. Cardle officiating. interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
