Obituary
Gordan L. Clubb, 78, of rural Burlington, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born May 23, 1931, in Harper, he was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Clark Clubb. On August 11, 1957, he married Janet Cochrane in Oskaloosa. Mr. Clubb was employed as a postal clerk for more than 30 years. He was a Millersburg High School graduate, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, and was a Yankees fan. Survivors include his wife of rural Burlington; two daughters, Yvonne Moen of rural Dixon, and Sandra Peterson of Oquawka, IL; three sons, Brian Clubb of Wilton, Bruce Clubb of Burlington, and Gregory Clubb of League City, Texas; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Clubb of Douds, and Larry Clubb of South English; three sisters, Doris Owings of DeWitt, Peggy Derby of Richland, and Joan Grimm of What Cheer; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Clubb will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Iowa Lions Eye Bank.
