Charles M. Wagner, 78, member of the Burlington fire department for 50 years, died at his home, 517 South Central avenue, at 11:40 last night. He was the father of Charles L. Wagner, superintendent of parks of the city council. Mr. Wagner was a life resident of Burlington, born here Nov. 26, 1852. During his half century of service on the fire department he served in the capacity of chief and assistant chief at various times. He was retired on a pension 10 years ago. In 1877 he was married to Miss Rosetta Hiltz at Burlington. He is survived by his widow; two children, Charles L. Wagner and Miss Carrie Wagner; one brother, Edward Wagner and one grandson, Charles Wagner, all of Burlington. Mr. Wagner had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to his bed for the past week. He was a member of Excelsior lodge I.O.O.F. for 50 years. Funeral services will be held at the home Monday afternoon, with Rev. Fred Shewes in charge.
