Obituary
The hundreds of Burlington friends of Miss Emma Wagner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wagner, of Summer street, will be painfully shocked to learn of her sudden death this afternoon. The young lady's illness began only last Sunday, and was originally nothing more serious than an ulcerated tooth. She suffered intense pain, however, and before her condition was considered as critical, inflammation of the brain set in, and after a short but very painful period of suffering she succumbed to the black hand of the angel of death. The sudden termination of the earthly existence of this fair and happy young lady is almost tragically sad. She was twenty-four years of age, just in full bloom of fresh young womanhood, and at the age when life is of the most rosy hue and its blessings are most numerous and pronounced. Health, youth and all the forms of happiness incident thereto were hers, and were apparently promised to be continued for years. She was surrounded by devoted friends, loving brothers and sisters and tender parents, who were justly proud of her. Her personal beauty was greatly augmented by charming manners and a sweet and sympatheic disposition, which made her a great favorite among her friends and bound their friendship tightly. Miss Emma Wagner was born in Burlington August 19, 1876. She attended South Hill school and upon graduating there began a course of studies at Burlington High School, which she completed but a year or two ago. She had many acquaintances in this city who will feel much regret at losing the pleasure and help of her bright acquaintance. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
