Obituary
Jacob Wagner who made his home across the river for thirty-five years and came to Burlington to live two years ago, passed away this morning at 7:10 o'clock in the St. Francis hospital. While he had been ailing in health for some time he was not taken critically ill until last Saturday. He was born near Lewistown, Penn., April 25, 1830, and had reached the ripe old age of 89 before his passing. he came east to take charge of the stock yards across the river from Burlington about thirty-five years ago. Two years ago he retired and came to Burlington to make his home with his grandchildren in the Wagner hotel. He was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran church and had a large number of friends and acquaintances in this city who mourn his passing. Regardless of Mr. Wagner's age, he was active in church affairs and always busied himself up until the last. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mollie Draper and the grand-children, Arthur and Louise Wagner, with whom he made his home; Harry Wagner of Oakland, Calif.; Ralph of great Lakes, Ill., Thomas, of Moline, Ill., and one great grandchild, Mrs. Ella Wagner, wife of the late Michael Wagner, also survives. The funeral services will be held from Unterkircher chapel Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
