Obituary

Mrs. Herman H. Berges, 1709 Lincoln Street, a well known resident of this city, passed away at 6 o'clock Sunday morning. Although her illness had been regarded of a serious nature, the news of her death will be met with extreme regret on the part of her friends and bereaved family.

Born near Kingston, Feb. 20, 1857, Lizetta Young made Des Moines county her home the greater part of her life. In 1884 the family moved to Monmouth, where they resided until 1896. She was married to Mr. Berges in Burlington in 1879.
Besides the husband, she is survived by two daughters, Bertha and Elza, both at home, and one son, Henry, of this city. She is also mourned by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Malinda Martin of Raton, N.M., Mrs. Ritta Young and W.M. Young, both of Iowa, and Henry Young of Pueblo, Colo.

A member of the German Evangelical Zion Church, Mrs. Berges was a faithful church worker and possessed of many Christian virtues. The funeral will be held from the family home on Lincoln street at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. J.C. Erdmann will officiate at these services. Friends are invited to attend. Burial will be made in Aspen Grove.
