Obituary
Charles Henry Bence, 80, of 1211 Pond Street, died at 10:40 am Friday in Burlington hospital after a long illness.
He formerly worked as a plumber for the John H. Ewinger Co. but retired several years ago.
He was born in Quincy, Ill., Oct. 15, 1867, the son of Zephryn and Mary Warner Bence. Dec. 18, 1893, he married Sophronia Roseberry at Lorraine, Ill.
Surviving are his widow; 9 children, John, Mrs. Whitmer Schroeder, Roy, Clyde, Cecil, and Mrs. Violet Brissey, all of Burlington, Mrs. Silas Clark of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Snoda Corsey of Kirkwood, Ill., and Mrs. Geneva Hollingworth of Rock Island, Ill.; 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Kate Wenning of Lorraine; a brother, John of Quincy, Ill. A son is dead.
Services will be held in Prugh’s chapel at a time to be announced.
