Obituary

John E. Youngquist, 119 S. Garfield avenue, died at his home at 8:20 p.m. Friday, following an extended illness due to heart trouble. Mr. Youngquist was born in Ostergotland, Sweden, Dec. 11, 1858, and came to this country and to Burlington when 13 years old. he was united in marriage in 1884 with Tillie Abramson at Mediapolis, Ia. He was a carpenter by trade, but retired from active work about 20 years ago. Mr. Youngquist was a member of Messiah Lutheran church and of the carpenters' union. Surviving are his widow: one son, Edgar Youngquist of Davenport, Ia., one daughter, Mrs. Anna Schwieger of Burlington, and three grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded him in death. The body was removed to the Burnett-Wallen funeral home and friends may call there until 2 p.m. Sunday at which time the body will be taken to the residence. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. A.D. Freden to officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
