Mathilda Youngquist, 92, the oldest confirmed member of Messiah Lutheran church, died Thursday night at her home at 119 S. Garfield avenue, after an illness of 5 weeks. Born Oct. 27, 1857, at Smaland, Sweden, she came to the United States with her parents in 1869. They moved to Mediapolis. Mrs. Youngquist spent most of her life in Burlington. She married John E. Youngquist at Mediapolis July 10, 1884. He died in 1941. She was confirmed at the Burlington church March 1, 1872. She was a member of the Ladies' and the Women's Missionary society. Surviving are a son, Edgar, Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. Anna A. Schwieger, Burlington; 2 grandsons; a grand-daughter and 2 great grandchildren. Two sisters a brother and daughter are dead. The body is at the Burnett Wallen funeral home.
