Kathryn Arlene Youngman, 90, of Mediapolis, formerly of West Burlington, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis. Born January 22, 1921, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Austin and Hazel Bailey Walker. On September 23, 1942, she married Milton Francis Youngman in Des Moines County. He died August 25, 1966. Mrs. Youngman worked at IRC Cafeteria, and retired from Champion Products. She graduated from Huron High School in 1939. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and especially time with her Griswold family. Survivors include one son, Milton Youngman of Grand Terrace, Calif.; one daughter, Colleen Wallace of Davenport; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The funeral for Mrs. Youngman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leroy Bradway officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A time of food and fellowship will be at Hass-Thielen community room following burial. Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and Prairie Ridge Care and Rehabilitation.
