Marje M. Christy, 90, of West Burlington died at 9:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born Sept. 29, 1925, in Quincy, Ill., she was the daughter of Bert and Pearl Campbell Haney. She married Dean Christy Feb. 9, 1946, in Quincy; he died in May 1978.
Mrs. Christy was a secretary for Churchill Trucking for 42 years, working alongside her husband, the company’s manager. She also worked for Yellow Freight Lines, Moose Magoo’s and Ramada Holiday. She worked at Shopko in Burlington when she retired at age 79.
She attended West Burlington Christian Church. She was a past member of Women of the Moose.
She was a graduate of Quincy High School.
She loved to work and socialize.
Survivors include one daughter, Kaci Christy of West Burlington; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mrs. Christy will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chuck Gorsch officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Blair House and Great River Hospice House.
