Obituary

Funeral services for Otto N. Grotewohl, 89 year old Civil war veteran who died yesterday afternoon will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Wahl, 912 Wells street, Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, in charge of Rev. J.S. Decker. Friends may call at Burnett-Wallen's until 9 o'clock Sunday morning when the body will be taken home. Mr. Wells ( sp Grotewohl) has been a resident of Burlington for fifty years. He was born August 4, 1840 on board a sailing vessel on the Atlantic ocean. When he was quite young his parents died in Missouri, and he came to Wapello, Ia. He enlisted in the Civil war in the Minnesota Regiment 6, Company H. and served three years. On September 30, 1870 he was married to Jane Slater who preceded him in death 18 years ago. He was a member of the G.A.R. and of St. Paul's Methodist church. He had made his home with his daughter twelve years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. L.E. Disque of Denver, Co., and Mrs. Frank Wahl of Burlington; two sons, Arthur Grotewohl of Burlington and George R. Grotewohl of Los Angeles, Cali., and five grand-children.
