Doris Marie Chevalier, 89, of Burlington, died at 9:30 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at her home.
Born March 15, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Catherine Burrows Thompson. On November 9, 1949, she married James H. Gibbs. He died July 31, 1966. On August 22, 1969, she married Raymond L. Chevalier in Burlington. He died October 10, 1999.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Sylvania. She later owned and operated Doris' Ceramics, north of Burlington
She enjoyed crafts, gardening, and her cats.
Survivors include two sons, Scott (Jana) Gibbs of Danville, Kurt (Arleta) Gibbs of Burlington; two step-sons, Kenneth Chevalier of Cedar Rapids, Charles Chevalier of Burlington; two step-daughters, Linda Snowden of Burlington, Janet Smith of South Dakota; four grandchildren; Brittni, James, Amber, Samantha two great-grandchildren; Nathan and Alex one brother, Harry Thompson of Burlington; one sister, Patsy (Myron) Schmieser of Winfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents; one step-son, David Chevalier; four brothers Dick, Dale, Jimmy, and Kenny; two infant brothers, Mark and Thomas; and five sisters Dorothy Rose, Helen Gorman, Thora (Ginny) McAdams, Betty Hester and Mary Crooks.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The private family inurnment for Mrs. Chevalier will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
