Obituary
Funeral services for FW Bloomer, 83 years old, and a veteran of the Civil war, who died at 7:45 yesterday morning, will be held from the home, 1410 North Eighth Street, at 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Bloomer was born in Belefelt, Germany, on August 19, 1842. In 1854 he came to America with his parents. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted in Company A. Thirteenth US infantry, and served for three years during the war, enlisting for another three-year period after the war was over. In September 1868, he was married to Miss Mary Funck in Burlington, and since that time had made his home here. He was employed for ten years by the Burt Seed company and was an employee of the Burlington railroad for over forty years, working at the shops until pensioned by the company a number of years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Cora Sarber and Mrs. Mamie Sletter, and three sons, John, Frank, and George, all of Burlington. Twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be in charge of Rev. SM Lesher and burial will be made in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
